Rom 13:8-10 Mt 18:15-20

May our hearts not be hardened, but may we turn from our sin.  In our love for one another, we may be called to confront our brother and sister for the wrong they may be doing.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS who are sick at home, in the hospital or in nursing homes and especially for Marion Ambrose, Linda Sylvester (wife of Dominick Jr.), Irene Valdata, James Cruise, Diane (Lane) Stone, Florence Altiere, Sister Rose Marita Lake, Raffaella Shapiro, Mary Garretson, Theresa Jasinski, Sr. Mary Theresa Leddy, Haley Weber, Yoshiaki Nakata, Vincent Anatele, Marian Mraz, Rose Stevenson, Stephen Golaszewski, William Waverka, and Bishop Vincent DePaul Breen.

"Again, (amen,) I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."  Matthew 18:19-20

In today’s Responsorial Psalm we sing: “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”  Hearing the voice of the Lord- and responding to it – is the challenge of every Christian.  We hear and listen for the purpose of making a response.  For some, that response will mean following Jesus as priests, sisters, brothers or deacons.  Are you hearing the voice of the Lord calling you to be a priest, religious sister or brother, or deacon?  If so, contact the Vocations Office 732-562-1990 or e-mail Vocations@diometuchen.org.  Or visit our website at www.diometuchen.org/vocations

THE SIGN OF THE CROSS

We make the sign of the cross by touching with the right hand:

  1. the forehead, saying, “In the Name of the Father;”
  2. then the breast, adding “and of the Son;”
  3. and then from the left shoulder to the right, while saying “and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

The sign of the cross shows that we are Christians because it expresses our belief in the chief mysteries of our Catholic faith; the mystery of the Blessed Trinity and the mystery of the Incarnation and Redemption.  The words we say show that God is one in Three Divine Persons.  The sign of the cross we make reminds us that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for us on the Cross.

HOW TO MAKE A GENUFLECTION

In making a genuflection with one knee, three things are to be observed:

  1. bend the right knee to the floor alongside the ankle of the left foot;
  2. hold the head and the upper part o f the body erect, not inclined;
  3. rise again without delay.

In genuflecting with both knees bend the right knee first and then the left: thereupon make a medium bow of the body and rise.
