Catholic Charities

Through hundreds of staff and volunteers, services provided include: family crisis intervention, shelter for the homeless, health services, adoption & foster care, drug & alcohol abuse treatment, mental health services, outreach for the elderly, and services to people with HIV/AIDS.  In addition, a parish priest’s Help Hotline continues to assist families in need when there is nowhere else to turn.

 

Pastoral Life

The Bishop’s Annual Appeal provides funding to sustain a number of ministries that assist people with special needs.  The Commission for Ministry for Persons with Disabilities seeks to meet the religious needs of the physically and developmentally challenged by providing spiritual nourishment and support group services.

 

St. Joseph H.S. Metuchen Open House

YOUTH GROUP NEWS

The Youth Group will not meet this Monday, October 11, due to Columbus Day holiday. Rehearsals will resume on Monday afternoon, October 18th at 4:00pm.

“Journey Through Grief” A support group is being formed at Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville, for those who have recently experienced the death of a parent, spouse, child, friend, or any loved one.  The group will be meeting on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:30 PM, starting Oct. 12 and will run for seven weeks.  Contact person is Joan Kopil (908-369-0845.  No Fee pre-registration required.

 

St. Ann Parish, Raritan, presents “Night at the Races” featuring “The Kentucky Derby” on Sat., Nov. 6th.  Doors open at 6:00 PM.  Tickets are $20.00 p/p, which includes prizes, dinner & dessert.  Cash bar available.  Special prize awarded for most imaginative hat worn!  The evening will include our “First Annual Reverse Raffle.”  Only 500 “Reverse Raffle” tickets, $50.00 ea. Blue Mass Monday, Oct. 25th at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 81 Seymour Ave., Edison at 10:30 AM. 

 

The Mother of Mercy Messengers, a lay ministry associated with the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass., will be giving a dramatic presentation reflecting on the message of mercy as conveyed to St. Faustina Kowalska.  This service will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 at 7:30pm, in St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen, NJ.  The guest speaker for the evening is Fr. Seraphim Michalenko, M.I.C.
