Phim 9-10,12-17 Lk 14:25-33

Who can comprehend the Lord’s ways or conceive what the Lord intends?  True wisdom leads us to acknowledge our limitations and our idols of materialism as we seek to follow the Lord without reservation.  True discipleship calls us to forgive those who have wronged us.  May we gain wisdom of heart to discern more fully our call to take up the cross of Jesus.

Let Us Pray…On this Labor Day weekend, may we respect each person’s right to life as well as each person’s labor for the common good.

Someone is Waiting for You!

How very fortunate we are to have the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday from 8:30 AM until 12 noon.  We are able to visit with Jesus, one on one, and to tell Him all of our troubles and worries and receive His Loving Peace and Comfort while in His Presence.  Won’t you come and visit Him?  It could be for 15 minutes, ½ hour or 1 hour.  His Blessings are there for you.  Let’s not miss this beautiful Spiritual Opportunity.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS who are sick at home, in the hospital or in nursing homes, especially for Consuelo Healy, Bill Fioravant, John Pongratz, Joseph Ballotta, Mary Pokotello, Hudson Savarin, Albert Schraeder, Rose Campanero, Patrick Puppo, John & Eileen Foxwell, Sr. Elinor Foxwell, F.M.M., Haley Weber, Cole Nesmith, James Murray (uncle of Karen Mathews), Warren King (father of Karen Mathews), Vincent Anatele, Rose Stevenson, Blanche Ferarro, David Alliprandine, Ralph Ley, Teresa Kunz, Betty Connelly, Josephine Sarnoski, Ray Osborne, Brian Connelly, and Kathleen McGivney.

Please remember in your prayers the repose of the soul of Joseph Morando, who passed away last week

Holy Name Society News

Dear parishioner and member, we are a rescheduling our monthly Holy Name Society meeting.  Our monthly meeting will be held following the normal 2nd Sunday of the month Communion Sunday down in the church hall.  This change eliminates having a meeting on a week night and rushing through dinner to get to the meeting on time. We hope that this change will encourage new members to come and former members of the Holy Name Society to rejoin us. We ask that you consider these recommendations and contact us on any and all suggestions.  Felix Reid, President, HNS (732) 469-2335

Blessed Be HIS Holy Name

Put the Glass Down

A lecturer was giving a lecture to his student on stress management. He raised a glass of water and asked the audience, "How heavy do you think this glass of water is?" The students' answers ranged from 20g to 500gm. "It does not matter on the absolute weight. It depends on how long you hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it is OK. If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm.  If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance.  It is the exact same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."  "If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier." "What you have to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before holding it up again." We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can be refreshed and are able to carry on.  So before you return home from work tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't carry it back home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you are having now on your shoulders, let it down for a moment if you can.  Pick it up again later when you have rested... Rest and relax.  Life is short, enjoy it!!
