Amos condemns the complacency of the rich who seek only their own comfort. In his parable of the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus echoes Amos, exhorting those who have to share with those who have not. Self-sufficiency must never blind us to the needs of others. Only in this way do we keep God’s commandments in integrity and in truth.

Society News
We have had a few problems sorting out a date for our society’s meetings. But after some thoughtful consideration it has been decided that our society will meet on the Wednesday evening following our regular 2nd Sunday of the Month, 8:00 am Communion Sunday Mass. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. in the church hall. Please read the bulletin for all developments. The past retreat to the San Alphonso Retreat House has brought out this interesting statistic. The Gonda family has a total of 63 years of attendance at this annual retreat.

Last week marked the
beginning of the 2004 Bishop’s Annual Appeal, the annual fund raising campaign
of the Diocese of Metuchen. Every
registered household of the Diocese will be asked to support the Appeal as we
work “Together-One Family in Christ” to help provide the funds necessary to
support more than twenty-five diocesan agencies, offices and ministries that
provide the pastoral, educational & charitable services to those in need. Please pray that all parishioners will live
out God’s virtue of charity by responding generously to this year’s Bishop’s
