Someone is Waiting for You!

How very fortunate we are to have the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday from 8:30 AM until 12 noon.  Won’t you come and visit Him?  It could be for 15 minutes, ˝ hour or 1 hour.  His Blessings are there for you.  Let’s not miss this beautiful Spiritual Opportunity.

Lord, with much of the holiday celebration over, I look forward to this day of quiet.  Help me to fully appreciate and use days like this, when I have time to sense the serenity and strength of Your gift of joy and all it can bring into my life.  More than fleeting pleasures and momentary happiness, joy brings the internal balance and perspective I need to deepen and discover the meaning in my life.  Help me develop Your gift of joy.

DID YOU KNOW?

The major air-polluting industries are iron, steel and, cement.

The smallest book in the world is called Chemin de la Cruix. It has 119 pages. It is 2 inches high and 1 1/3 inches wide. The largest book in the world is an atlas, which is in the British Museum. It is 5 feet 10 inches high and 3 feet by 6 inches wide.

"Book" comes from the word liber. Liber is a Latin name that the Romans used for the thin layer of stuff that is found between the wood and bark of a tree. The Romans used to peel the layer away from the tree and use it as paper to write on.

In the olden days when books were made by hand, a scribe would have to copy out the writings onto parchment. He was not allowed to make any mistakes! All day long he would just sit and copy down words using pen and ink.

Did you know the Chinese used silk to make their paper?

There are 2 kinds of bookworms. Children and grownups that like to read are often called "bookworms". It's a good thing to be called a bookworm...as long as you read good books!  The other kind of "bookworm" is an insect that likes to eat the pages of books. They are usually moth or beetle larvae (which are tiny pale worms).

The world’s fastest reptile (measured on land) is the spiny-tailed iguana of Costa Rica.  It has been clocked at 21.7 mph.

The shadow bird always builds a 3-room nest. The third section is the nursery; the second is a pantry; and in the first, the male parent stands guard against intruders.
