First Synod of the Diocese of Metuchen

What is a Synod?

Synod: derived from the Greek words syn (together) and nodos (road or way).

For nearly 1500 years the Church convened clergy to discuss and create policies. The contemporary diocesan synod is a significantly different kind of event. The thoughts, views, and experiences of diverse groups are represented. Diocesan synods now involve religious and lay members along with clergy.

The diocese that commits to having a synod is one that is committed to seeking input from the people of God within its jurisdiction. The goal? To create a unified vision and to plan for the diocese’s future. Our diocese, under the leadership of Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski is committed to the synod process! For more information about this historic event: www.diometuchen.org/synod

Holy Name Society News

The month of November is upon us.  The month of All Saints & of All Souls.  We remember the Saints that sit at Our Lord’s side and our loved ones that have left us to dwell in the house of our Lord.  It is also the time of that the church’s liturgical year draws to a close.  We are asked to be ready for the coming of the Lord and to make the preparation for the life that is to come.  Will we be ready?

Congratulations to Mrs. Lucille Tymecki, wife of Holy Name Member, Frank, on her return to the Lay Readers podium after a long recovery from back surgery.  It is good to have her back.

There is a need for Eucharistic Ministers and Lay Readers.  It is a wonderful Way to participate at Mass & a rewarding duty to our church.  All men, women, and high school students are invited to join.  Please contact the rectory for more information.  .

BLESSED BE HIS HOLY NAME
