First Synod of the Diocese of Metuchen

Synod Process:

The Synod Preparatory Commission (SPC)

The SPC, whose members represent the rich diversity of charisms and ministries within our Diocese, has the somewhat daunting task of planning and carrying out every aspect of the synod.

For well over a year, this group and its committees have met monthly and sometimes even weekly. The goal? To craft a synod that will be a meaningful experience with practical, long- term results.

Every effort is being made to ensure that anyone who wants to be heard will, in fact, be heard.

You’ll be learning more in the weeks and months ahead about what the SPC has planned. For now, it’s important to know that a group of dedicated and talented people are working hard to bring this vision for the future into focus right now.

Holy Name Society News

To all Holy Name Members, the months of November & December are important to us.  Decisions have to be made.  One of the parables of this month asks us “to assess the extent to which we have invested our spiritual talents”? Will we fall by the wayside on the issue of the election of new officers or will we move forward into the New Year with the determination to continue to make our society a viable part of Our Lady of Mercy Church?  All members are urged to attend all the up coming meetings.

BLESSED BE HIS HOLY NAME

Thoughts for the day...

Birds of a feather flock together and crap on your car. There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

A penny saved is a government oversight.

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat are really good friends.

He who hesitates is probably right.

If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.
