Holy Name Society News

Our society would like to thank all our friends and parishioners for their kind support in the recent 50 / 50 Raffle. Once again it was a great effort and a special thank you must go out to Keith Fasanella and all his helpers for their very generous time and work in this good effort. All funds from this raffle will be used to help refurbish our church rectory. Thank you one and all. The winners of this raffle are as follows; 1st winner; Joe Grigal .................. $ 858.38

2nd winner; Lisa Caputo ............. 515.03

3rd winner; Karen Matthews ...... 343.35

Congratulations to our winners. We regret the delay in announcing these winners. Due to the

Thanksgiving Holiday the bulletin had to be submitted 1 week early.  The Season of Advent is here. It is difficult to get past the commercial aspects of this holiday season. Let us endeavor to think of the birth of the Baby Jesus and the solemnity of this Holy event that has changed the world. Parents, let us set the example to our children. Request the privilege of presenting the wine and bread at the offertory of the Mass. Instruct your children that receiving the Eucharist is a serious and holy act and they should act accordingly. As we await the birth of the Christ Child, let us ask God to enter our hearts during this Advent season.

The Holy Name Society will meet on Monday, December 12th at 7:30 PM in the Church Hall. All men of the parish are invited to attend and participate.

Blessed Be HIS Holy Name

Advent As Catholics, we prepare for Christmas by celebrating the season of Advent in the four weeks preceding Christmas. We hear John the Baptist, echoing the words of the prophets of Israel, call us to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord in our own lives now, and to look for the fulfillment of his kingdom in the future.

The circular wreath with four candles reminds us of God's eternal nature and the light Christ brings into our lives. You can say a prayer and light the candles before dinner each night or at some other consistent time.

“Christians must beg God for the grace of conversion: the grace to know who they are, to whom they belong, how they are to live — the grace to repent and change and grow, the grace to become good disciples and stewards.”
