Third Sunday of Advent – December 11, 2005

All of the people in today’s readings — the prophet Isaiah, the Virgin Mary, St. Paul, St. John the Baptist — seemed to understand clearly and rejoice in what God was calling them to be and to do. Do I?

First Synod of the Diocese of Metuchen

Speak Up Sessions: What They Are

Speak Up Sessions are a key feature of our synod’s General Consultation Phase. They are the primary mechanism for getting input from the laity throughout the diocese. One synod observer has described them as a “gathering of the minds of the people.” These structured and guided conversations are intended to provide exactly what their name implies: opportunities for you to speak up.

During January and February 2006, almost every one of our 108 parishes will be holding a Speak Up Session. Ray Osborne and Agi Simoncelli from our parish were trained to facilitate these sessions and they have met with Father Herlihy to choose a date. Mark your calendar now because our session will be held on January 19.  Currently they are pulling together a parish team to ensure that our parish’s session is a huge success. And it will be one if you show up and speak up!   More information to come.

I'm trying to imagine you with a personality.
