All of the people in today’s readings — the prophet
Isaiah, the Virgin Mary, St. Paul, St. John the Baptist — seemed to understand
clearly and rejoice in what God was calling them to be and to do. Do I?

to its success.
2005 YEAR-END CHARITABLE GIFT GIVING
As you consider your year-end tax planning, we hope that
you will consider making good use of the income tax charitable deduction. Giving gifts of cash (check) or securities
which have appreciated in value can help assure maximum benefits for you and
your charitable interests.
Your 2005 gift to the Diocese of Metuchen-Bishop’s Annual
Appeal can significantly reduce your income taxes, while providing meaningful
support to the various ministries that are vital to the physical, spiritual,
and emotional health of our Church.
Thanks for your past & continued generosity.

First Synod of the Diocese of Metuchen
Speak Up Sessions: What They Are
Speak Up
Sessions are a key feature of our synod’s General Consultation
Phase. They are the primary mechanism for getting input from the laity
throughout the diocese. One synod
observer has described them as a “gathering of the minds of the people.” These
structured and guided conversations are intended to provide exactly what their
name implies: opportunities for you to speak up.
During January and February 2006,
almost every one of our 108 parishes will be holding a Speak Up Session. Ray
Osborne and Agi Simoncelli from our parish were trained to facilitate these
sessions and they have met with Father Herlihy to choose a date. Mark your
calendar now because our session will be held on January 19. Currently they are pulling together a parish
team to ensure that our parish’s session is a huge success. And it will be one
if you show up and speak up! More
information to come.
