THE PARISH FAMILY OF OUR LADY OF MERCY WELCOMES JONATHAN TOBAR THROUGH THE WATERS OF BAPTISM.

Selective abortion occurs regularly in the practice of in vitro fertilization after multiple embryos are implanted in a woman’s uterus.  This is sometimes called “selective reduction.”  Other human embryos are considered “left over” and put into cold storage like surplus food supplies.  What does this say about respect for the dignity of each human life?  About God’s role in creating each human soul at the moment of conception?  Each and every child conceived is a gift from God with the potential for eternal life.  We must urgently proclaim this truth and oppose the attitude that a child can be “produced” and destroyed at whim.

Our Lady of Mercy’s Stewardship Renewal Initiative is coming to a close.  We would like to commend all parishioners for their concern for our parish.  If you have not yet returned your commitment envelope, please do so at the first opportunity.

I would like to thank you for your most generous response to our ministry Cross International Catholic Outreach when I was there on the weekend of December 11-12, 2004.  Your parish donated more than $2,487.00 that will have a direct impact in the lives of the poorest of the poor.  May the Lord continue to bless all of you for your love and support.

Scriptures says, “He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and the Lord will reward him for what he has done.’ (Prov. 19:17)  God bless you for hearing the cry of the poor and for responding so generously.

Sincerely,

Rev. Msgr. Michael Flanagan
