All of us have been baptized into one and the same Spirit.  That same Spirit, the Advocate, our comfort and refreshment, was given as gift to the disciples to strengthen them to go forth in the name of the Lord, “to renew the face of the earth.”

Let Us Pray…That each of us may use the gifts the Holy Spirit has given us to defend the unborn, the handicapped, the comatose and the elderly.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS who are sick at home, in the hospital or in nursing homes, especially for Teresa Salas, Bill Fioravant, John Pongratz, Mary Pokotello, Jeanette Felix, Roberta (Bobbi) Zabita, John Foxwell, Sr. Elinor Foxwell, F.M.M., Haley Weber, Cole Nesmith, James Murray (uncle of Karen Mathews), Vincent Anatele, Rose Stevenson, Blanche Ferarro, Teresa Kunz, Carol Talnagi, Gladys Quinlan, Adam Platukis, Vi Konz, Ruth Schraeder, Josephine Weitz, Jill Miner, Rose Campanero, Josephine Sarnoski, John Promaulayko, Fred Kroposky, Diane Manley, Bryant Connelly (Betty’s son) and Lucille Tymecki.

Dear Parishioners,

Please join us the weekend of May 28-29, 2005 to hear Rev. Raymond J. Leurck speak at all the liturgies about a ministry providing direct relief to the poor throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Father Leurck will share what he has witnessed about Food for the Poor’s mission to care for the destitute as a means of living out the Gospel mandate to love one another.

Fr. Leurck was ordained in 1967 for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.  He served for 13 years in the Archdiocese as an associate pastor, teacher and campus minister.  In 1979 he became an Air Force Chaplain during which time he received many awards and decorations.  He retired from the USAF in 2003 as a Colonel and joined Food For The Poor.

Please join me in welcoming Father Leurck.

“Thirty-Two years ago the Supreme Court took the issue of abortion out of the hands of the people and their elected representatives and mandated legal abortion throughout pregnancy.  That’s why we work so hard on parental notification and waiting periods which help reduce abortion, but in order to strike at the heart of abortion, the court itself must overturn Roe.  It has reversed itself scores of times and some day it will reverse Roe v. Wade too.”

Important News

The tragic events surrounding Terri Schiavo demonstrate how important it is for individuals to select someone to serve as health care proxy, to execute an Advance Directives (sometimes referred to as a “living will”), and to discuss their wishes with their health care proxy and members of their family.  The Catholic Bishops of New Jersey have prepared Advance Directives for Health Care: A Catholic Perspective, which is available on the New Jersey Catholic Conference website:

www.njcathconf.com/Documents/AdvDirforHC.htm

Anyone who does not have Internet access may obtain the document from the Diocesan Respect Life Office, or by writing or calling the New Jersey Catholic Conference, 211 N. Warren Street, Trenton, NJ  08618. Telephone 1-609-599-2110.

If it should be necessary to revise this document in the future, a notice to that effect will be published and the revised document made available.
