Do you want to make a difference in the life of a child?

Connections Program:

This Youth Services mentoring program is an adult-to-child match program, serving the youth of Somerset County.  Adult volunteers are recruited and matched with a child with special emotional needs.  The adult volunteer provides a weekly positive friendship to the child through one-to-one activities outside their family.   Periodic group events and activities are planned for all matches.

The children and youth in the Connections program are up to age 17 who:

- would respond to a genuine relationship with a committed adult "friend".

- are finding themselves in serious situational/loss crisis (i.e. divorce, parent dying/recently deceased)

-are in need of a helpful adult relationship.

- do not have many social circles available to them.

Volunteers may be any individual 18 years of age or older, of any ethic or religious background,

who are interested in making a positive impact on a child's life.

For more information, please contact Kathleen Zielinski at kzielinski@ccdom.org Pr call (908) 722-1881 and ask for the Connections Program

REMEMBER WHEN…

You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, all for free, every time? And you didn't pay for air? And, you got trading stamps to boot?

They threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed. . and they did?

No one ever asked where the car keys were because they were always in the car, in the ignition, and the doors were never locked?

Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box?

Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! But we survived because their love was greater than the threat.

Archbishop Myers has invited the priests and people of our Diocese to take part in a banquet on July 9, 2005 honoring Cardinal Glemp at the “Cracovia” Banquet Hall, 196 Main Ave., Wallington, NJ. It is a fundraiser toward the completion of the Church of Divine Providence in Warsaw-a special project of  His Eminence.  The Church is a votive offering of gratitude by the Polish people for their survival of the Nazis and freedom from communist occupations.

If further information is needed about the Mass or dinner, please contact Mrs. Maria Dininno at 973-483-2255.

There is a need for a driver here in South Bound Brook to take a person to work.  If you are available even on a part time basis, please call Maria Hemrick @ 732-257-6100.

RENEW offers us both a wonderful opportunity and a great challenge. We have a great need to get in touch with the spiritual aspects of our lives, yet our days have become busier than ever. We have pressures at work, downsizing in corporations, economic struggles - needing to limited time for family concerns and leisure activities.

RENEW is coming to Our Lady of Mercy in October, 2005. Plan on attending.
