Most animals don't eat moss. It's hard to digest, and it has little nutritional value. But reindeer fill up with lots of moss. Why? The moss contains a special chemical that helps reindeer keep their body fluids warm. When the reindeer make their yearly journey across the icy Arctic region, the chemical keeps them from freezing-much as antifreeze keeps a car from freezing up in winter

WHY IS IT?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What disease did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

If a 911 operator has a heart attack, whom does he/she call?

Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet soup?

When your photo is taken for your driver's license, why do they tell you to smile?  If you are stopped by the police and asked for your license, are you going to be smiling?

Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride; he sticks his head out the window?

1.Zebras are native to what continent?

South America, Africa, Asia

2. Which statement is true?

No two zebras have stripes that are exactly alike. Stripes wear off as zebras grow older.  Zebras in the same family have identical sets of stripes.

As Christians we are challenged to stop, to reflect, to pray, to reconnect with that which is holy. There are signs of a blessed resurgence of spirituality as our connectedness with what is sacred reawakens interest in angels, near-death experience, and the end of life

RENEW provides a way to help meet this growing longing in people's hearts for the holy and for an experience of community in a world that is often filled with competition and isolation.

RENEW comes to Our Lady of Mercy in the fall. Keep watching this space for updated

details.

HOLY NAME SOCIETY NEWS

The Holy Name Society is off for the summer and we will be back in September. We will of course still be active in promoting our Holy Name cause. We would like to make you aware of our annual retreat to the San Alfonso Retreat House in West Long Branch, NJ at the "Jersey Shore" on the weekend of August 12 - 14, 2005 and ALL men of the parish, friends, and Holy Name Members are invited to attend. We offer you some great meals, private quarters, good companionship and the opportunity to get closer to your inner self. The theme for this retreat will be " The Holy Eucharist ". The speakers are just great and instructive. Come to where God and the sea come together. If you are new to the idea, try it, I promise you; you will come back again and again. One of my favorite times is to rise early and go to the beach to await the miracle of the rising sun over the horizon and the birth of a new day. Truly, this is the work of God. Call Bob Gaudio at 732 356 3975 for reservations and all information.

" Blessed Be HIS Holy Name "

Sleeping Beauty took a 100-year nap. So can microscopic critters known as tardigrades, or water bears. Water bears can live in droplets of water on plants. If the water they live in evaporates, they lose water too and go into a deep sleep. A little water is all it takes for them to spring back to life. Instant tardigrades!
