Holy Name Society News

The Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Mercy Church is sorry to announce the passing of our brother in Christ, Joseph Getlik. Joe was a long time member (40 or more years} of our society and parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Always active as an usher, choir member, collection counter, Holy Name Society Treasurer, cook / chef for many of our churches functions. Joe was a great guy and we were proud to be his friend, he will be sorely missed. Our most sincere condolences to his dear wife Mary and to his sons and daughter as well as all the members of the Getlik family. It is our prayer that Our Lady of Mercy will take his hand and lead Joe to his home in heaven. May he rest in peace.  Amen.

Blessed be HIS Holy Name

The Second Vatican Council reminded us that we are living in a time of rapid and radical change. The Holy Father called us to a "renewed commitment to apply as

faithfully as possible, the teachings of Vatican II."  These teachings include:

  • a new evangelization
  • ecumenism (a deep connection with all Christian people)
  • inter religious dialogue
  • openness to the world
  • awareness of our baptismal call.

But what does that mean for us today? RENEW will help us on that journey.  We will begin RENEW with a Mission to be held on September 10. This will be followed by small community gatherings that will begin the week of October 2.

Mark your calendars NOW!

Golden & Silver Wedding Anniversary Celebrations will take place on October 10 or October 24, 2004 at 4:00 PM.  Arrangements can be made by contacting your parish office at 732-356-1037.  Application forms are available and will be accepted by the Family Life Office until Friday, September 3, 2004.  A confirmation letter will be sent once your application has been processed.
