As Eliakim is given authority as master of the palace, so does Jesus confer upon Peter’s authority to bind and to loose.  To Jesus, who promised to be with his Church for all time, be glory for ever and ever!

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS who are sick at home, in the hospital or in nursing homes, especially for Irene Corrigan, William McGirl, Mary Pokotello, John Foxwell, Haley Weber, Blanche Ferarro, Gladys Quinlan, Adam Platukis, Josephine Sarnoski, Marie Quinata, Andy Gonda, Nick Barber, Roseanne Scaletti, Diane Manley, and Bryant Connelly (Betty’s son).  Please also pray for the soul of Joyce Porto who passed away last week.

Let us be joined in prayer, as Joyce is welcomed back into the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.  Let us also remember the Porto family- that they may find strength and consolation in the Lord, and comfort and support from their family and friends.

Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

August 21, 2005

In today’s reading, St. Paul reminds the Romans and us that all things come from God: “For from Him and through Him and for Him all things are.” Good stewards understand that all is gift and share generously the gifts of time, talent, and treasure with which they’ve been blessed.

I was thinking about how a status symbol of today is those cell phones that everyone has clipped on. I can't afford one. So, I'm wearing my garage door opener.

Employment application blanks always ask 'who is to be notified in case of an emergency.' I think you should write, "A Good Doctor!"

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older. Then, it dawned on me; they were cramming for their finals. As for me, I'm just hoping God grades on the curve.

You know, I spent a fortune on deodorant before I realized that people didn't like me.

A GRIEF RECOVERY PROGRAM

Four-step experiential process for dealing with loss in our lives Sun-Aug 28, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. ($45)

Do you know someone who is no longer part of our parish community?

  • If so, begin to pray and think of ways you can invite that person to be a part of our community.
  • We want to reach out to as many people as possible.
  • Think of young people who may not look to the Church to help them find meaning in their lives.
  • Think of those who may be angry with the Church.
  • Reach out to them because we want everyone to share Christ's joy.

Beginning in September, we will begin with a Mission to be held on September 10 here at church. Bring along as many people as you can.

We want to reach out to everyone and move together as a human family toward greater unity and reconciliation.

RENEW begins the week of October 2. Plan to join a small community of faith.

Golden & Silver Wedding Anniversary Celebrations will take place on October 10 or October 24, 2004 at 4:00 PM.  Arrangements can be made by contacting your parish office at 732-356-1037.  Application forms are available and will be accepted by the Family Life Office until Friday, September 3, 2004.  A confirmation letter will be sent once your application has been processed.

An older gentleman was on the operating table awaiting surgery and he insisted that his son, a renowned surgeon, perform the operation.  As he was about to get the anesthesia he asked to speak to his son.  "Yes, Dad, what is it?" "Don't be nervous, son; do your best and just remember, if it doesn't go well, if something happens to me, your mother is going to come and live with you and your wife...."
