As the Lord is kind
and merciful, so should we be forgiving toward one another. Our forgiveness is
to be without limit and so reflect Christ’s eternal love. He alone is Lord.

DIOCESAN NEWS
Once again we are called upon to
come to the aid of our neighbor.
Hurricane Katrina has caused terrible damage to many homes, buildings
and roadways. Our prayerful concern and generous
response are needed to help the thousands of people who are suffering from the
effects of this terrible hurricane. Catholic Charities USA is accepting
contributions to help the victims of this devastating tragedy. I ask that you do all that you can to respond to
this appeal for help. A special
collection or free-will offering will be taken on the weekend of September
10-11 to support this relief effort. May the Lord bless all who give of themselves in
loving support of those in need.
Sincerely in the Lord,

ANSWERING MACHINE MESSAGES:
Hi, I'm not at home right now, but my
answering machine is, so you can talk to it instead. Wait for the beep.
Hi! John's answering machine is broken. This
is his refrigerator. Please speak very slowly, and I'll stick your message to
myself with one of these magnets.
Hello, You are talking to a machine. I am
capable of receiving messages. My owners do not need siding, windows, or a hot
tub, and their carpets are clean. They give charity through their office and do
not need their pictures taken. If you're still with us, leave a message and
we'll get back to you.
This is not an answering machine. This is a
telepathic thought-recording device. After the tone, think about your name,
your reason for calling and a number where I can reach you, and I'll think
about returning your call.
Hi. I am probably home. I'm avoiding someone
I don't like. Leave a message, and if I don't call back, it's you.
Hi, this is George. I'm sorry I can't answer
the phone right now. Leave a message, and then wait by your phone until I call
you back.
If you are a burglar, then we're at home
cleaning our assault weapons right now and can't answer the phone. Otherwise,
we probably aren't home and it is safe to leave us a message.
Please leave a message. However, you have the
right to remain silent. Everything you say will be recorded and will be used by
us.
NEW

Prayer Attributed to
Watch,
dear Lord, with those who wake or watch or weep tonight, and give your angels
charge over those who sleep. Tend your sick ones, O Lord Jesus Christ, rest
your weary ones, bless your dying ones, soothe your suffering ones, shield your
joyous ones, and all for your love’s sake. Amen.

Isn't it time to be reconciled?
There is nothing sadder than hearing about families whose members haven't spoken to one another in years. There is nothing more opposed to peace than having entire countries and races of people alienated from one another.
All are called to take the time to be reconciled.
Come join
in the celebration of reconciliation. Come be part of the
Sign-Up for small communities will be on Sept. 17 - 18. Come be part of a small community.

The Haircut
A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a Minister, if they could discuss his use of the family car.
His father took him into his study and said, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study the Bible a little, get your hair cut and then we'll talk about it."
After about a month, the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss his use of the car. They again went into the father's study where the father said, "Son, I've been very proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied the Bible diligently, but you didn't get your hair cut."
The young man waited a moment and then replied, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that. You know Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair."
The Minister said, "Yes, and
everywhere they went, they walked."
