Prop Gl Cr Sun Pf I-VIII

136: Ez 18:25-28 Ps 25:4-9

Phil 2:1-11 or 2:1-5 Mt 21:28-32

Jesus was obedient to the Father, even to death on a cross.  We need never fear if we turn away from the path of virtue for the Lord is ever ready to forgive us, if we but repent.  Remember, the Lord’s compassion and kindness are from of old.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS who are sick at home, in the hospital or in nursing homes, especially for Irene Corrigan, David King, Mary Pokotello, John Foxwell, Haley Weber, Blanche Ferarro, Gladys Quinlan, Adam Platukis, Josephine Sarnoski, Marie Quinata, Andy Gonda, Nick Barber, Roseanne Scaletti, Anna Corrento, Diane Manley, and Bryant Connelly (Betty’s son).

Please remember in your prayers the repose of the soul of the Reverend Michael M. Vincze.  Father Vincze was ordained on June 23, 1940 in the Diocese of Vac, Hungary.  His first assignment was as Parochial Vicar at St. Paul Church, Burlington, from December 1951 to December 1952, after which he served as Parochial Vicar at St. John the Evangelist Church, Lambertville, from December 1952 to June 1953; Our Lady of Hungary Church, Perth Amboy, from June 1953 to September 1956; St. Stephen Church, Trenton, from September 1956 to August 1964.  He was appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Woodbridge, in August 1964, and served there for almost twenty-eight years until his retirement in June 1992.

Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time – September 25, 2005

The first son in today’s Gospel said he would do his father’s bidding, but did not. The second son balked at first, but then repented and did as he was asked.  What service is God calling me to do? Which son am I more like?

ATTENTION: Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers & Altar Servers.  Schedules are available on the OLMSBB.ORG website.

PLEASE WELCOME

THROUGH THE WATERS OF BAPTISM

Joseph & Angelina Marlowe

O God, our Creator, help us, your chosen ones, to be inspired by your Spirit, so that we may make the Kingdom of Jesus Christ real in our day.

Throughout the deliberations of our Synod, may our focus be based on Gospel values, the teachings of our Church and the example of Mary, our Queen and Mother.  May her flat, “Thy will be don,” echo in our lives and in the lives of all our sisters & brothers.

May the Diocese of Metuchen be a beacon of Christ’s presence as we celebrate our Silver Jubilee.  May we be a community of faith steeped in prayer and loving service to all in need. Amen

Listen to Catholic Radio! Tune in to 89.3 FM & listen to our area’s ONLY full-time Catholic radio station.

2005 Bishop’s Annual Appeal

“We are One in the Body of Christ”

This week marks the beginning of the 2005 Bishop’s Annual Appeal, the annual fund raising campaign of the Diocese of Metuchen.  This year’s theme invites us to come together in response to Christ’s call to discipleship.  With your support of the Appeal, the many programs, ministries, activities, projects and services of the Diocese of Metuchen will continue to help those in nee.

“As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

1 Peter 4: 8-10

Girl Scout Troop 245 from SBB will be collecting items to donate to the fellow girl scouts & boy scouts and all children affected by Hurricane Katrina and then to the Perth Amboy apartments, where many will be housed, thanks to the Diocese of Metuchen and all of the donations of the many generous people who have helped to make this happen.

Needed are: school supplies, comic books, fast food gift certificates, nail polish, hair gel, barrettes, perfume, cologne, journals, stationary and stamps, paperback books, coloring books, crayons & whatever else you may think children would enjoy.  The last weekend for collection is Nov 5/6.

The Cathedral Deanery Council of Catholic Women is sponsoring a visitation to three churches on Saturday, October 15, 2005.  The churches that are included are Our Lady of Mercy, South Bound Brook, St. Mary Church, & St Matthias, Somerset.  The visitations will conclude with a luncheon at McAteers Restaurant.  Please call Ruth Skudlarek @732-548-5790 for more info.

Small Christian communities are the hope of the church... (Pope Paul VI)

As we begin RENEW in October we will provide an opportunity for all parishioners to become part of a small Christian community. These communities will meet only once a week for six weeks, beginning the week of October 2. Everyone is invited.

We are not meant to live our faith alone; we need the support of other Christians.

Certainly as we gather each week for Mass we support and love one another, but we need more. We need people who can get to know us well and with whom we can be comfortable. In our small communities we have the opportunity to share our faith, find meaning, deepen relationships, pray, learn from one another, and support each other as we struggle to live our faith in all aspects of our lives.

This is the last weekend to sign up for a Small Christian Community. Won't you join us?

According to Jeff Foxworthy, you're not a kid anymore WHEN...

You quit trying to hold in your stomach, no matter who walks into the room.

You enjoy watching the News.

The phone rings and you hope it’s not for you.

The only reason you're still awake at 4 AM is indigestion.

Your best friend is dating someone half their age AND isn't breaking any laws.

You start singing along with the elevator music.

You really do want a new washing machine for your birthday.

You've owned clothes so long that they've come back into style--TWICE.

You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge. You write Thank You notes without being told.

You don't like to drive after dark
