Moses and Jesus both attest to the fact that the work of the Spirit cannot be confined by an institution, and that no one can claim a monopoly of the Spirit’s charism, or wisdom. Beware of growing rich while neglecting the rights and needs of others.

First Synod of the Diocese of Metuchen

Summer is over, school is starting

our synod process continues!

Much was accomplished this summer as preparations for our first diocesan synod continued.

By mid-August, our Bishop had approved a grand total of 59 proposals. Synod delegates spent the rest of August reviewing and commenting on them. By the end of September, the proposals they will vote on at synod sessions will be finalized ― and available for all the People of God in our diocese to read. Our synod’s summer activities also included:

X        establishing a Synod  Commission to bring the synod’s work to completion.

X        creating a committee to investigate how other dioceses most effectively took action to implement their synod decrees.

X        updating the synod website!

X        producing a handbook to help delegates fulfill their important role.

What’s next? Focusing on our synod delegates. Stay tuned for more information about what you can do to support those who are serving this way.
