Stewardship

Today’s second reading reminds us that the sacrifice of Christ frees us from sin and makes us a royal nation of priests in the service of God. How am I using my gifts to serve God and others?

November is National Adoption Awareness Month

This Sunday, please pray for foster children and adoptees yearning to know of their biological roots, and for the families that love them, we pray to the Lord.

And

For prospective adoptive parents waiting to become a family, that their longing for their child remind them of God’s longing for them, we pray to the Lord

 

Annual Appeal for the Retirement Fund for Religious

Dec. 9 & 10 The national Annual Appeal for the Retirement Fund for Religious will be conducted on the  second weekend of December. This  appeal asks us to recall those women & men religious whose ministry has nourished our own faith, served our church and strengthened our nation. Today, more than 37,000 women & men religious are past age 70. Their institutes face critical economic challenges as the costs of health care escalate and as the need for handicapped-accessible housing increases. Please be generous when we collect for the Retirement Fund for the Religious.

Eucharistic Holy Hour for Vocations

Dec 15th, Immaculate Conception Church 35 Mountain Ave., Somerville. Come join us to pray for priestly and religious vocations. Let us join in prayer and in support of young men and women that they may discern God’s will in their lives.

Giving Tree

Nov. 18th, A giving tree will be set up on Nov 18th. We are having a joint venture this year, along with gifts for Kentucky, we will also be adding a soup kitchen for a few of our local less fortunate families. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Please take a tag off the tree and return the tag on the gift by Dec. 10th. Thank you in advance for making someone’s Christmas brighter. We wish you a Happy, Healthy and Blessed Holiday Season. Girl Scout Troop 245 and the 7th & 8th grade CCD class.

Holy Name Society News

Please Join Us

We are asking that all the men of our parish consider joining our society. The Holy Name Society meets in prayer and worship at the 8:00 AM Mass on the second Sunday of each month. We also meet at 7:30 PM in the church hall on the second Monday of each month. We pray that you can be with us.

Our Lady of Mercy Youth Choir

The Youth Choir will meet each Monday at 4:00pm in the church. All students in Grades 3 thru 8 are invited

Respect Life Prayer Vigil

December 8th, On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, parishes across four time zones in our country will hold a National Night of Prayer for Life. St. Joseph’s Parish in Hillsborough, will participate in this effort. The vigil will be held in the church’s Blessed Sacrament Chapel and will go from 9pm to 1pm, with the actual hour of nationwide prayer being 12 Midnight to 1am EST. For more info: (908) 369-4342

 

Thank God for Church Ladies With Typewriters

·         The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.

·         The Peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict.

·         Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.

·         Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community

·         Today, smile at someone who is hard to love. Say “Hell” to someone who doesn’t care much about you.

·         Charlene Mason sang “I will not pass this way again” giving obvious pleasure to the congregation

·         For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

·         Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.

·         Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.

·         Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24th in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.

·         Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and the deterioration of some older ones

·         A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow.

·         Ladies Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10am. All ladies are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the B. S. is done.

·         The pastor would appreciate it if the ladies of the congregation would lend him their electric girdles for the pancake breakfast next Sunday.

·         Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7pm. Please use the back door.

·         The primary 7's will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Church basement Friday at 7pm. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.

·         Weight Watchers will meet at 7pm at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.
