The law liberates
and leads us to freedom. It is to be
trusted for it is a source of wisdom.
Jesus speaks of the ultimate freedom to be won for us by his being
raised up. He is the sign of the power
and wisdom of God.

Stewardship
Our
Lady of Mercy’s Stewardship Renewal Initiative is very important to our
financial stability and our budget requirements. If you have not yet returned your response
envelope, please do so at the first opportunity.
Third Sunday of Lent – March 19, 2006
“You shall not covet” is perhaps a difficult
commandment to keep in our consumer-oriented society. But as Christian
stewards, we know that we are the recipients and caretakers of God’s many
gifts. May this understanding that all is gift help us be less resentful
of the gifts of others.

DIOCESAN
NEWS
“Parenting
at the Speed of Life” will be held at
First Synod of the Diocese of Metuchen
Our Hopes: Education
In Jesus, our divine teacher, we find a reverence
for learning and commitment to education that the Church has sustained
throughout the ages. We are called to pass on through education what we have
received in faith and through careful study.
Responses about Catholic schools in the Diocese of
Metuchen; religious formation for youth; sacramental preparation; our campus ministry; adult faith formation (e.g., RCIA); and continuing faith formation for Catholic
adults will be sorted into this category: Education.
These are only a sampling of issues for further discussion. Much will be
said, of course, about each issue.
As faithful and dedicated
Catholic Christians, we seek the Holy Spirit to guide human intelligence as we
sort through responses from our Speak Up Sessions.

STRANGE TIPS….
Preserving a newspaper clipping - large bottle
of club soda and cup of milk of magnesia, soak for 20 min. and let dry, will
last for many years!
A Slinky will hold toast and CD's!
To keep goggles and glasses from fogging, coat
with Colgate toothpaste
Wine stains, pour on the Morton salt and watch
it absorb into the salt.
To remove wax - Take a paper towel and iron it
over the wax stain, it will absorb into the towel.
Remove labels off glassware etc. rub with
Peanut butter Baked on food - fill container with water, get a Bounce paper softener and the static from the Bounce towel
will cause the baked on food to adhere to it. Soak overnight. Also; you can use
2 Efferdent tablets, soak overnight! Crayon on the wall - Colgate toothpaste
and brush!
Dirty grout - Listerine
Stains on clothes - Colgate
Grass stains - Karo Syrup
Grease Stains - Coca Cola, it will also remove
grease stains from the driveway overnight. We know it will take corrosion from
car batteries!
Fleas in your carpet? 20 Mule Team Borax-
sprinkle and let stand for 24 hours.
To keep FRESH FLOWERS longer add a little
Clorox, or 2 Bayer aspirin, or just use 7-up instead of water.
When you go to buy bread in the grocery store,
have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so! you "squeeze" for
freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores
five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has
a different color twist tie. They are: Monday = Blue, Tuesday = Green, Thursday
= Red Friday = White and Saturday = Yellow So if today was Thursday, you would
want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors
go alphabetically by color Blue- Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday through
Saturday. Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in
the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even
the ones with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new
everyday! Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day
you are shopping.
