MASS Prop Gl Cr Sun Pf I-VIII
RDGS 147: Ex 17:8-13 Ps 121:1-8
2 Tm
3:14-4:2 Lk 18:1-8
Through incessant prayer, we open ourselves more fully
to understanding God’s will. Through faith in the power of prayer (3), we
experience God’s love and assistance (1, Ps). Our Christian life is nourished
by the scriptures we read and by our received tradition (2).
Stewardship
Today’s theme is
perseverance — Moses keeping his hands upraised throughout the battle, Paul
urging Timothy to stay with the task of preaching and teaching and the widow
appealing to the corrupt judge. To be faithful stewards of God’s gifts, we, too,
must persevere in the roles to which we are called.
Stewardship for WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
Today’s Gospel calls
all of us — not just the apostles — to go and make disciples. If we cannot
actually go to the missions, we can answer Jesus’ call by giving generously of
our prayers and financial resources to support those who can and do.

PLEASE
PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS
including: Lucy Ciancia, Judy Salcewicz,
Tony Gangitano, David King, Haley Weber, Frank
Stashak, Josephine Sarnoski, Elizabeth Connelly, Joan Gould, Mary Pokotello,
Blanche Ferarro, Sheila Del Mastro, John & Peter Foxwell, Terese King, John
& Christine Dyke, Peter Yazgier, Genevieve Casey and Karen VonRacenswaay.

price are we willing to pay?
The Catholic Bishops oppose the “New Jersey Stem Cell Research Bond Act”
because it includes funding for human embryonic stem cell research. The Bishops
do not believe that government should subsidize and then force morally opposed
taxpayers to subsidize research that requires the destruction of human life.
Please visit www.respectlifetoday.org to watch a
short documentary titled “The Science of
Stems Cells: Finding Cures and Protecting Life”.

The Rummage Sale on Saturday, September 8 was a huge
success. The volume of clothes,
books, toys and games, household articles, shoes, religious articles,
furniture, pictures, lamps, holiday decorations and items we can’t remember,
was overwhelming. We hope you were able
to come down and see us, if not to buy, but to look and see how generous our
parishioners were.
There were so many individuals involved in making
this sale happen. We had individuals
producing the flyers, translating them into Spanish, going store-to-store
putting up the flyers, placing the info in all the newspapers, on bulletin boards,
on the electronic sign, bulletins of other parishes, cable TV, and just
spreading the word. Then there were the
meetings to get the sale to happen. The
ideas flowed from everyone, and those ideas really came to culmination on the
final day. And then we had those
individuals who for 3 days worked tirelessly setting up tables, sorting,
folding the clothes and pricing everything else and putting them in sections to
have the shoppers feel they were in a department store. The tables looked great. It was one monumental job but we opened the
doors on time and our shoppers were complimenting us on how terrific everything
looked. One lady told us she was so
pleased that everything was so clean and was very impressed by our sale. Oh, and remember those collection days when
the items kept coming in and in and in and in!
All those who helped are very talented individuals and didn’t stop
working until the job was done, including the clean-up crew. Where did everything go? It went to the Somerset County Food Bank,
FISH, Planet Aid, and the Methodist church rummage sale.
We wish to thank everyone, beginning with Father
Dan, the parishioners who donated all those articles, the individuals who
worked so hard (we even met some new parishioners), and our committee who
pulled it off.
So far we have made about $2,500. (all expenses are
not yet accounted for) and hopefully some much needed items will be purchased
to beautify our church.
Thank you everyone, and thank you, Our Lady of Mercy
in heaven for shinning down upon us.
