In Hebron, David is hailed as king by all the tribes of Israel (1, )s). Jesus is anointed king on the wood of his cross, a sign of paradox, of defeat yet final victory (3). Through his cross we have passed from darkness into the kingdom. Of light (2).

The Men’s’ Turn

A man goes to see the Rabbi.

"Rabbi, something terrible is happening and I have to talk to you about it."

The Rabbi asked, "What's wrong?"

The man replied, "My wife is poisoning me."

The Rabbi, very surprised by this, asks, "How can that be?"

The man then pleads, "I'm telling you, I'm certain she's poisoning me, what should I do?"

The Rabbi then offers, "Tell you what. Let me talk to her, I'll see what I can find out and I'll let you know."

A week later the Rabbi calls the man and says, "Well, I spoke to your wife. I spoke to her on the phone for three hours. You want my advice?"

The man says, “Yes!”

The Rabbi replies, "Take the poison."

The Rummage Sale on Saturday, September 8 was a huge success.  The volume of clothes, books, toys and games, household articles, shoes, religious articles, furniture, pictures, lamps, holiday decorations and items we can’t remember, was overwhelming.  We hope you were able to come down and see us, if not to buy, but to look and see how generous our parishioners were.

 Back to Bulletins Page

There were so many individuals involved in making this sale happen.  We had individuals producing the flyers, translating them into Spanish, going store-to-store putting up the flyers, placing the info in all the newspapers, on bulletin boards, on the electronic sign, bulletins of other parishes, cable TV, and just spreading the word.  Then there were the meetings to get the sale to happen.  The ideas flowed from everyone, and those ideas really came to culmination on the final day.  And then we had those individuals who for 3 days worked tirelessly setting up tables, sorting, folding the clothes and pricing everything else and putting them in sections to have the shoppers feel they were in a department store.  The tables looked great.  It was one monumental job but we opened the doors on time and our shoppers were complimenting us on how terrific everything looked.  One lady told us she was so pleased that everything was so clean and was very impressed by our sale.  Oh, and remember those collection days when the items kept coming in and in and in and in!  All those who helped are very talented individuals and didn’t stop working until the job was done, including the clean-up crew.  Where did everything go?  It went to the Somerset County Food Bank, FISH, Planet Aid, and the Methodist church rummage sale.

We wish to thank everyone, beginning with Father Dan, the parishioners who donated all those articles, the individuals who worked so hard (we even met some new parishioners), and our committee who pulled it off.

So far we have made about $2,500. (all expenses are not yet accounted for) and hopefully some much needed items will be purchased to beautify our church.

Thank you everyone, and thank you, Our Lady of Mercy in heaven for shinning down upon us.
