Special Collection

December 8th and 9th

Retirement Fund for Religious

The second collection on December 9th benefits elderly women and men religious. More than 19,000 religious have less than 20 percent of the amount needed for projected costs of living and healthcare.

The average Catholic sister, brother, or order priest remains in active ministry until age 74. Today, 37,870 women and men religious are past age 70 and need our help with the current high cost of living and health care.

ICONS: WINDOWS TO PRAYER ADVENT PROGRAM

The Ecumenical and Interfaith Initiatives Commission of the Diocese of Metuchen and Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church will hold a joint Advent program on religious icons on Sunday, December 9 at 3 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 72 Whitehead Ave. in South River. New Jersey is named after the small independent island of Jersey near France. St. Thomas’ Catholic Church, the principal Church on the island is looking for one million dollars to complete it’s restoration project.
