Ps 27:1,7-9,13-14
Phil 3:17-4:1 or 3:20-4:1 Lk 9:28b-36
Abram’s faith is sealed with a covenant initiated by
God (1), our light and our salvation (Ps). The transfiguration of Jesus (3)
prefigures the transformation in glory to which we are called by our sharing in
the paschal mystery – the dying and rising of Jesus (2).
Stewardship
Peter, James, and John
wanted to build a “booth” for Jesus and just stay on the mountain where His
transfiguration took place. But the Son of God, the Chosen One, knew that He
must instead keep moving toward His crucifixion. We, too, must rise from
worship and do what we can to hasten the coming of the kingdom.

Q: Why do ships and aircraft in trouble use
"mayday" as their call for help?
A: This comes from the French word m'aidez -meaning "help me" -- and
is pronounced "mayday."
Q: Why do men's clothes have buttons on the right
while women's clothes have buttons on the left?
A: When
buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily by the rich.
Because wealthy women were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the
maid's right. Since most people are right-handed, it is easier to push buttons
on the right through holes on the left. And that's where women's buttons have
remained since.

From the Mouth of Babes
Q. How do you
decide who to marry?
A. No person really decides before they grow up who
they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out
later who you're stuck with. -Kristen, age 10
Q. What is the right age to get married?
A. Twenty-three is the best age because
you know the person FOREVER by then. - Camille, age 10
Q. How can a stranger tell if two people are married?
A. You might have to guess, based on
whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. - Derrick, age 8
