Jn 20:19-31
As Thomas believed because he saw the risen Jesus (3),
so too were many brought to faith through the various signs and wonders wrought
by the apostles (1). They proclaimed as Lord “the stone rejected by the
builders” (Ps), “the First and the Last of the One who lives” (2)
Stewardship
“Blessed are they who
have not seen and yet believed,” Jesus says in today’s Gospel. For those who
have not seen to believe, however, we must be good stewards of our faith,
living it joyfully and sharing it generously. Then, in our time too, “men and
women in great numbers” will be “added to the Lord.” See John 20:29; Acts 5:14

About Divine Mercy Sunday
The Feast of the Divine
Mercy or Divine Mercy Sunday falls on the Sunday following Easter).
It is dedicated to the devotion to the Divine Mercy
promoted by St. Faustina (Faustyna
Kowalska), and is based upon an entry in St. Faustina's diary
stating that anyone who participates in the Mass
and receives the sacraments of confession and Eucharist on this day is assured by Jesus of full remission of
sins
According to the notebooks of
Sister Faustina, Jesus made the following statements about this day: "On that day the very depths of My
tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who
approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive
Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On
that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no
soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is
so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it
throughout all eternity.

Aid to the Church in Central &
Easter Europe and the Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take
place April 28th & 29th.
* The Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe is working in 28
countries to build the pastoral capacity of the Church. Together, we are
bringing the light of God’s love to places once covered by a pall of darkness.
Our contributions will help build parishes, supports seminaries, social service
programs, youth ministry, pastoral centers, church construction and spreading
of the Gospel in many distant and unknown places in Central and Eastern Europe.
* The Catholic Home Missions Appeal support those Catholics in the US
where the Catholic Church struggles just to keep parishes open and to educate
children in the faith. Some dioceses are terribly short of priests, sister and
money needed to run parishes. Catholic home Missions Appeal also provides
funding which helps send 982 chaplains to offer Mass, sacraments, counseling
and the comforts of faith to American Catholic soldiers and their families
around the world.

Sister Mary Ann, who worked for a home health agency, was out
making her rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of gas. As
luck
would
have it, an Exxon Gasoline station was just a block away.
She walked to the station to borrow a
gas can and buy some gas. The attendant told her that the only gas can he owned
had been loaned out, but she could wait until it was returned.
Since Sister Mary Ann was on the way
to see a patient, she decided not to wait and walked back to her car.
She looked for something in her car that she could fill with gas and
spotted the bedpan she was taking to the patient.
Always resourceful, Sister Mary Ann
carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with gasoline, and carried
the full bedpan back to her car.
As she was pouring the gas into her
tank, two men watched from across the street.
One of them turned to the other and
said, "If it starts, I'm turning Catholic,"
