RDGS         169: Gn 14:18-20    Ps 110:1-4

                   1 Cor 11:23-26  Lk 9:11b-17

Melchizedek, priest of God Most High (Ps), offers bread and wine as a blessing upon Abram (1). Jesus fulfills this offering, giving us his own body and blood under the forms of bread and wine (2). Thus is our hunger satisfied in abundance (2) as we make our pilgrim way to the heavenly banquet feast (Seq).

Stewardship

In today’s Gospel, the disciples suggest that Jesus disperse the crowd so that they might individually seek food and lodging. The miracle of the feeding of the five thousand is Jesus’ powerful reminder that when we share our gifts in His name there is always more than enough!

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS including: Tony Gangitano, David King, Haley Weber, Frank Stashak, Josephine Sarnoski, Elizabeth Connelly, Loretta Girard, Mary Pokotello, Blanche Ferarro, Sheila Del Mastro, John & Peter Foxwell, Dorothy Burke, Terese King, John & Christine Dyke, Peter Yazgier

Q: Why are zero scores in tennis called "love"?

A: In France , where tennis first became popular, a big, round zero on scoreboard looked like an egg and was called "l'oeuf," which is French for "egg." When tennis was introduced in the US , Americans pronounced it "love."

OUR LADY OF MERCY NEWS

Farewell to Sunday Night Bingo

Due to the lack of players, Father The Bingo Committee has cancelled Sunday Night Bingo starting June 10th. For the past several months, even though Father lost money, he kept the doors open at full prize money for the loyal people who attended most every Sunday night and to see if attendance would improve during this time. It did not.

Thank You to all the loyal bingo players that played at Our Lady of Mercy Bingo- a lot of things got fixed and improved around the church with your generosity.

A Special Thank You to all that worked Sunday Night Bingo throughout the years - a lot of things got fixed and improved around the church with the generosity of your valuable time.

A Big Thank You to Jim Scaletti who was there to open the doors to bingo every Sunday come heck or high water.

New Phone Prompts at the Rectory

I have made some changes in the phone prompts on the rectory phone voicemail. If you’d like to know Mass times for the week or for Holy Days of Obligation, you can call the rectory phone. It will be updated each time there is a Holy Day or a change in Mass schedules as well as being printed in the bulletin. Please keep in mind not to call late in the evening, there is no night service and you will wake up Father.

Let Us Help Congratulate ALL Graduates

We would like to announce & congratulate (in the bulletin) anyone in our parish graduating this year-we don’t care if it’s from kindergarten up to college. You can put the info in the collection baskets, through the front door slot, call us on the phone or email us (olmsecretary@optonline.net). Please let us know the following info: Graduate’s full name, age,  the name of the school graduating from & what grade or degree. Please include a phone number in case the parish secretary has any questions. The graduates names will be announced in the June 24th bulletin. All names must be to the rectory by June 17th to make the printer’s cut off.

Things I betcha didn’t know…

- Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away.

- A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

- If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives. Then you will be afraid to cough.

- Have a bad toothache? Smash your thumb with a hammer and you will forget about your tooth

- If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and presto, the blockage will be removed instantly.

- Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: In life, you only need two tools - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move but should, use the WD-40. If it should not move and does, use the duct tape.

The parish secretary is in no way responsible if you decide to try the silly things above. Besides, I tried them on my husband and they really don’t work anyway…
