Stewardship

Like Nathan in today’s first reading, we sin when we begin to feel entitled and act as if what we have is ours by right, when we forget that everything we have is an unmerited gift from God. But God is gracious and forgiving — even when we use His gifts wrongly or squander them thoughtlessly — if, like Nathan, we confess our guilt and ask His pardon.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS including: Tony Gangitano, David King, Haley Weber, Frank Stashak, Josephine Sarnoski, Elizabeth Connelly, Loretta Girard, Mary Pokotello, Blanche Ferarro, Sheila Del Mastro, John & Peter Foxwell, Dorothy Burke, Terese King, John & Christine Dyke, Peter Yazgier

and Genevieve Casey.

Let us remember in our prayers Eileen Fazekas whom God has called home.

Q: In golf, where did the term "Caddie" come from?

A:  When Mary, later Queen of Scots, went to France as a young girl (for education &survival), Louis, King of France, learned that she loved the Scot game "golf." So he had the first golf course outside of Scotland built for her enjoyment. To make sure she was properly chaperoned (and guarded) while she played, Louis hired cadets from a military school to
accompany her. Mary liked this a lot and when she returned to Scotland, she took the practice with her.

In French, the word cadet is pronounced 'ca- day' and the Scots changed it into "caddie."

On our recent trip to the Badlands, we heard this news and wanted to share it with you. It is with the saddest heart that we pass on the following:

Please join us in remembering a great Icon, the veteran Pillsbury spokesman, The Pillsbury Doughboy. He died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly.  He was 72.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased and floured coffin.

Many celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours.

As a long time friend, Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy describing Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers.

He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he even still,  as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Playdough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven.  He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

He was a Christian, so we know he will rise again.
