David acknowledges his sin (Ps) and experiences the
Lord’s forgiveness (1). The sinful woman is forgiven by Jesus because of her
great love (3). He loves us and gave Himself up for us (2).
Stewardship
Like
Nathan in today’s first reading, we sin when we begin to feel entitled and act
as if what we have is ours by right, when we forget that everything we have is
an unmerited gift from God. But God is gracious and forgiving — even when we
use His gifts wrongly or squander them thoughtlessly — if, like Nathan, we
confess our guilt and ask His pardon.

Please join us in remembering a great Icon, the
veteran Pillsbury spokesman, The Pillsbury Doughboy. He died yesterday of a
yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 72.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased and
floured coffin.
Many celebrities turned out to pay their respects,
including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker,
the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with
flours.
As a long time friend, Aunt Jemima delivered the
eulogy describing Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy
rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers.
He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting
much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times,
he even still, as a crusty old
man, was considered a roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife, Playdough, two
children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly
father, Pop Tart.
He was a Christian, so we know he will rise again.
