Stewardship

We can hear God speaking to us today in the words of the father to his elder son: “You are with me always, and everything I have is yours.” What is my response to such remarkable generosity? Do I give joyfully and generously as God gives to me?

2007 Bishops Annual Appeal

Disciples of ChristStewards of His Gifts

This week marks the beginning of the 2007 Bishop's Annual Appeal, the campaign to fund the Ministries of the Diocese of Metuchen. This year's theme invites us to come together as stewards in response to Christ's call to discipleship.  In today's Gospel, Jesus delivers the parable of the lost son.  This parable speaks to what is important in life—our family and our faith.  Material possessions come and go, but a Son lost and then found is everything and the father wants to share whatever he has to celebrate this joyous occasion.

Do we give joyfully and generously as God gives to us?

Please prayerfully consider making your family's gift today!

As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of Gods varied grace.

OUR LADY OF MERCY NEWS

** Rummage Sale Finale **

Dear Parishioners,

The Rummage Sale on Saturday, September 8 was a huge success.  The volume of clothes, books, toys and games, household articles, shoes, religious articles, furniture, pictures, lamps, holiday decorations was overwhelming.  Our parishioners were very generous in their donations.

There were so many individuals involved in making this sale happen.  Volunteers receiving the donations every weekend, producing flyers, going store-to-store putting up flyers, placing the info in newspapers, on bulletin boards, on the electronic sign, cable TV and just plain spreading the word.

We had individuals who worked for 3 days tirelessly setting up tables, sorting, folding the clothes, pricing everything and putting them in sections to have the shoppers feel they were in a department store.  The tables looked great.

It was a monumental job, but we opened the doors on time and we received so many compliments on how terrific everything looked.

All those who helped are very talented individuals and they didn’t stop working until the job was done, including the clean-up crew.  Where did left over items go…?  They went to the Somerset County Food Bank, FISH, Planet Aid, and the other area church rummage sales.

We wish to thank everyone--Father Dan, the parishioners who donated all those articles, the individuals who worked so hard (we even met some new parishioners), and our committee who pulled it off.

So far we have made about $2,500. (all expenses are not yet accounted for) and hopefully some much needed items will be purchased to beautify our church.

Thank you, Our Lady of Mercy in heaven for shinning down upon us.

The Rummage Sale on Saturday, September 8 was a huge success.  The volume of clothes, books, toys and games, household articles, shoes, religious articles, furniture, pictures, lamps, holiday decorations and items we can’t remember, was overwhelming.  We hope you were able to come down and see us, if not to buy, but to look and see how generous our parishioners were.
