Jesus is the beloved Son of the Father (3). He is the
light of the nations (1) and Lord of all creation (2). To him be all glory and
praise (Ps)!
Stewardship
Our Baptism, like the
Lord’s, is a consecration to service.
The bishops’ pastoral on stewardship reminds us that “. . . there is a
fundamental obligation arising from the Sacrament of Baptism that people place
their gifts, their resources — their selves — at God’s service in and through
the Church.”

PLEASE
PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS
including: Josephine Sarnoski, Genevieve Casey, Elizabeth
Connelly, Josephine Martens and Peter Yazgier.

Let us remember in our prayers Henry Solger whom God
has called home.

**Together in Charity Collection**
January 12 & 13, 2008
This weekend the annual “Together in Charity
Collection” will be taken up at all Masses. The proceeds of this collection
will help the Parish Emergency Assistance Program, a program of Catholic
Charities that provides 24 hour/7 days a week assistance to parishes faced with
individuals and families with serious and urgent financial, housing or medical
needs. In the past year, 75% of the parishes in the Diocese availed themselves
of this program. Please give generously to this collection and contribute to
making this a grace-filled new year for a family or individual in crisis.
Thank you,
Thank you
Once again, the parishioners of Our Lady of
Mercy brought 2007 to a successful end by surpassing the goal set for it by the
2007 Bishop's Annual Appeal. It is heartwarming to see such an outpouring of
generosity
not only this year, but every year as this vital function of the Diocese has
received your support. Your contributions are being put to good use.

Anyone wishing to obtain a statement of
contributions for the past year – 2007, should drop a note in the collection
basket or call the rectory during business hours. We will need to have your name (and your spouse’s name, if applicable),
street address and phone number—a parishioner number would be nice
too if possible. Please note: At this
time, requests will be taken -- final
numbers won’t be ready for a couple of weeks. Statements will go out ASAP!
New Church Directory
ANYONE can come to the church to have
their photograph taken, so invite your friends and neighbors. (Their picture will not appear in our
directory, but they still get a FREE 8x10 and the church will receive another
FREE directory.)
Sign up today while there is still a
good selection of appointments at the sign up table located in the church
vestibule (at this time, there is no
online sign up). Each household that comes for photography and portrait
viewing will receive a complimentary directory and 8x10 Custom Color
Portrait. Additional portrait options
will be available for purchase. Please
participate – it won’t be complete without you! Please take a moment on your
way out of service and SIGN UP for your appointment today while there is still
a good selection of appointments.
