Stewardship

Today we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. The U.S. bishops pastoral on stewardship reminds us that Baptism gives all of His disciples a share in His priestly work and calls them “to offer up the world and all that is in it — especially themselves — to the Lord of all.”

Holy Family Academy Open House

Holy Family Academy, 120 E. Second St., Bound Brook, NJ will have an Open House on Wednesday, January 28th  starting at 9:00 AM thru 2:00 PM. Come visit the school; see our classes in session; talk with our principal & parents of enrolled children and enjoy light refreshments in a welcoming environment. Additionally, there is an Open House on Sunday, January 18th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

**Together in Charity Collection**

January 10 & 11  This weekend the annual Diocesan “Together in Charity Collection” will be taken up at all Masses. The proceeds of this collection will help the Parish Emergency Assistance Program, a program of Catholic Charities that provides 24 hour/7 days a week assistance to parishes faced with individuals and families with serious and urgent financial, housing or medical needs. In the past year, 75% of the parishes in the Diocese availed themselves of this program. Please give generously to this collection and contribute to making this a grace-filled new year for a family or individual in crisis.

Annual Diocesan Respect Life Mass

January 18th  All are welcome to attend the Annual Diocesan Respect Life Mass at 12 Noon at the St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. The Bishop will present the 2009 Pro-Vita awards at this time. MARCH for LIFE

January 22  Immaculate Conception Church will have a bus going to Washington, DC to participate in the

March for Life.

The March is a yearly event to show support for Life on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s infamous abortion decision Roe v. Wade. It offers an opportunity to put our faith into action by being a public witness for the sacredness of God’s gift of life and being a voice for those unable to speak for themselves. The Holy Name Society will be having their monthly meeting on Monday, January 12th at 7:30 PM. All men of the parish are welcome and encouraged to attend.

 

 

Holy Name Society & CCD News

In conjunction with the contest sponsored by the Diocese of Metuchen, Our Lady of Mercy’s Holy Name Society is sponsoring a poster contest for our 1-8 grade CCD students and a poetry contest for our 6th, 7th, & 8th grade CCD students. The winners in each grade will receive a $10 cash prize. The place winners will also be entered into the Diocesan annual Pro-life poster/poetry contest for Religious Education students.

All entries must be back to their respective CCD teachers no later than January 25th, 2009.
