Stewardship

The Gospel today tells of the Virgin Mary, pregnant herself, hurrying off to help her cousin

Elizabeth. The model of good stewardship, she who had given herself to bear the Savior gave her time and love to others as well.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS

For those who are ill, especially: Kelly O’Callahan,

James Esposito, Beverly Turok and Josephine Sarnoski that their suffering and trials may become sources of grace for themselves and others.

Let us join in prayer for Andy Gonda.

May God look upon his face.

Our Lady of Mercy

From the Desk of the Bishop to Msgr. Daniel J. Herlihy

Dear Monsignor Herlihy,

During this “Year for Priests, it seems especially fitting that the dedication and sacrifices of outstanding members of the presbyterate be acknowledged.

It gives me great pleasure, therefore, to inform you officially that His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, has named you a Chaplain to His Holiness, which carries with it the title of Reverend Monsignor.

I rejoice with your family and friends and Our Lady of Mercy Parish at this distinguished and well-deserved honor, and look forward to celebrating it with you and your parish community in the near future.

Finally, please know of my gratitude for your exemplary service to the Diocese of Metuchen as my vicar in Somerset County for the past seven years.

With prayerful good wishes, I remain

Sincerely in the Lord,

Most Rev. Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski

Youth Group News

Youth Group  & GSA Giving Tree

The Youth Group/Girl Scout Giving Tree is up. Everyone was so kind to our Kentucky friends. Now we ask you to be just as kind to the local food bank and  local families the Youth Group and Girl Scouts are sponsoring.

Please consider buying something for the gift tags hanging there or help out the local food bank by purchasing  Shop Rite Gift Cards to place on the Giving Tree to help less fortunate area families have holiday meals as plentiful as we will have for our own families.

Good will and stewardship never end and we will accept Shop Rite Gift Cards any time of the year. But to meet the families needs by Christmas, we will collect this year’s gift tags and gift cards this Sunday, December 20th.

Shop Rite Gift Cards are sold after each Mass every weekend.
