Job’s cry of hopelessness stands in marked contrast to the hope of those who put their trust in Jesus, who “heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds”. Such are the blessings of the good news.

Stewardship

Like St. Paul in the second reading, the good steward can say, “I do all that I do for the sake of the Gospel in the hope of sharing in its blessings.”  (See 1 Corinthians 9:23)

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS

For those who are ill, especially:  Josephine Sarnoski, Elizabeth Connelly, Genevieve Casey, Peter Yazgier, Chester Scaletti, Sr. and Keith Bloomer.

There is a light in this world, a healing spirit more powerful than any darkness we may encounter.  We sometimes lose sight of this force when there is so much suffering and pain.  Then suddenly, the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people who hear a call and answer in extraordinary ways.

Diocesan Winter Collection

Feb. 14th & 15th

The “Winter Collection” will benefit two important causes sponsored by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops: The Campaign for Human Development and the Church in Latin America.

Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) – We can reverse the trend where 37 million Americans live in poverty. CCHD helps people break the cycle of poverty, not for just a day, but for a lifetime. We send 75% of the donations to the CCHD national office. We keep 25% here in our Diocese to fund local self-help initiatives to benefit our local communities.

Church in Latin America (CLA) – CLA helps fellow Catholics in Latin America and the Caribbean who are rich in faith but lacking in material resources - to participate more fully in the life of the Church and to share their faith with others. The collection also help respond to emergency pastoral needs resulting from natural disasters.
