Federal Funding of Embryonic Stem Cell Research:

On March 9th, President Obama issued an executive order to lift restrictions on federally funded human embryonic stem cell research.  ADULT Stem Cells have actually shown greater promise and are already successfully treating patients, without presenting ethical problems.   Embryonic stem cells are derived from living human embryos. The embryos are killed by the process; thus involving the wrongful destruction of innocent, developing life. Our hard-earned money will now go to support this kind of research.

Please call the White House, your Senators and Representative to express outrage that this is now happening.  Senators: Frank Lautenberg (202) 224-3224; Robert Menendez (202) 224-4744; White House Phone Number: 202-456-1111, www.whitehouse.gov.

Immediate Action Needed!!

Attacks on Conscience Rights

President Obama has taken the first step toward reversing the “conscience protection” policy that gave legal protection for medical workers and institutions which object to cooperating in abortions.  The conscience rule entitled, "Ensuring That Department of Health and Human Services Funds Do Not Support Coercive or Discriminatory Policies or Practices in Violation of Federal Law," implements longstanding federal statutes protecting conscience rights in the health care profession. The Administration says it will open a new 30-day comment period so Americans may voice their concerns. We encourage participation in this process by all committed to the sanctity of human life, the freedom of conscience, and the ethical integrity of our healing professions.

The propose rule can be accessed at http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/E9-5067.htm. Comments are due by April 9, 2009.  In commenting, please refer to “Rescission Proposal.”  You may submit comments:

Rosarian Easter Craft & Bake Sale

The Rosary Altar Society is sponsoring their annual Easter Craft & Bake Sale after each Mass on Saturday, April 4th and Palm Sunday, April 5th . Any donations of crafts or baked items are welcome and appreciated. Please drop them off 15 minutes before Mass starts. The Rosarians will be waiting in the Church Hall to take them from you.

Shop Rite Easter Gift Cards

Let the Rosary Altar Society or the Holy Name Society help make your college kids’ Easter Basket complete with a nice Shop Rite gift next to the candy… Maybe that special someone who’s on a diet would welcome a Shop Rite gift card instead of a big chocolate bunny that would go directly to their hips… How about your special family members that are trying to make it on Social Security—I KNOW they’d love to find a Shop Rite gift card in their Easter card this year.

Shop Rite gift cards are on sale after

all Masses on the weekend.
