Special Diocesan Collection April 25^th & 26^th

The second collection on April 25^th & 26^th will be for the Diocese to support their “Aid to the Church in Central & Easter Europe” campaign.

The Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe is working in 28 countries to build the pastoral capacity of the Church. Our contributions will help build parishes; support seminaries, social service programs, youth ministry, pastoral centers, church construction and spreading of the Gospel in many distant and unknown places in Central and Eastern Europe.

Annual Firefighters Mass

The Diocese of Metuchen Annual Firefighters Mass will be held on Sunday, April 26, 12 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Metuchen. This Mass will honor all active, retired and deceased firefighters within the Diocese. All firefighters and their families are invited. A reception will follow the Mass. Introduction to the Bible for “Seniors” (55+)

The Family Life Office is pleased to announce that an eight week Bible Study program for Seniors will begin Wednesday, April 29 through Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 Noon. A nominal fee of $5.00 per session is requested. Emphasis on the New Testament, stressing the four Gospels, selected letters of St. Paul and an introduction to Lectio Divina.

As with most holiday bulletins, there is very little to report the day of the holiday and the week after. The events leading up to the special day are over. I usually fill up blank column space with jokes or cartoons, but not today this holiest of days.

Special Anniversary Collection on April 18 & 19

In 2009, Our Lady of Mercy Church will celebrate 60years as a parish. As a special anniversary remembrance to the church and the parish and the town, we will be replacing the Carillon (church bells) in the church.

Patriot Baseball Game Gathering

The Holy Name Society is, once again, sponsoring a Patriot Baseball Game Gathering. This year's gathering will be at the June 6^th Patriots vs. the Bridgeport Bluefish Game at 7:05 PM. The cost is $ 8.00 per person. You may reserve your tickets by calling Keith Fasanella at 732-356-5780 or by filling out the Patriots Game form found at each exit door and returning the completed form and payment via mail to Keith or in the collection basket during any Mass. The last day to reserve tickets is Sunday, May 10^th. BLESSED BE HIS HOLY NAME.

Ronald McDonald House Wish List

The 2009 Conformandi will be visiting the Ronald McDonald House on April 18^th and would like to bring gift baskets as they have done in the past. The baskets are so needed and welcomed by the families staying with their sick kids at RMc house. The list of needs are too numerous to post here in the bulletin so they will be posted at all exits. Please bring in your donated items by April 15^th and please leave them in the vestibule of the church. Thank you for your generosity.
