Let us love one another as Christ has loved us by offering Himself for our sins. His love is to be revealed to all the world, as Peter himself taught.

Stewardship

Jesus’ commandment is that His disciples love one another, even to the point of laying down their lives, if necessary.  What gifts of myself — my skills and talents, my time and resources — will best demonstrate my love for God’s people?

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS

For those who are ill, especially:  Marion Mraz,

Beverly Turok, Josephine Sarnoski, Elizabeth Connelly, Peter Yazgier, Keith Bloomer,

Terri Mahoney and Cathleen DeLorenzo

that their suffering and trials may become sources of grace for themselves and others.

The Family You Have Gathered

An Invitation From the Bishop

This June, Bishop Paul Bootkoski will present a pastoral letter on vibrant parish life. Written as part of the plan for implementation of synod norms, The Family You Have Gathered presents Bishop Bootkoski’s vision for the parishes of the Diocese of Metuchen. The Bishop will present his letter at four gatherings throughout the diocese. Each pastor has been asked to bring the parish pastoral staff, parish council members, as well as key lay leaders. Shortly after the gatherings are held, a study guide will be sent to the pastors, to be used with the letter as a tool for parish evaluation.

The gatherings are open to all who are interested in hearing Bishop Bootkoski present his letter. They will be held at the following locations: Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen; Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at St. Matthias Church, Somerset; Monday, June 8, 2009 at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Church, Flemington; Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at St. Philip & St. James Church in Phillipsburg. All gatherings will begin at 7:30 pm. Each parish will be given copies of the letter for distribution to the parish leadership. The letter will be available in English and Spanish at the diocesan website after the gatherings are concluded.

A Thought from St. Teresa of Avila

Christ has no body now on earth, but yours;

No hands but yours;

No feet but yours.

Yours are the eyes through which He is to go about doing good;

Yours are the hands with which He is to bless people now.

Let us remember in our prayers Genevieve Casey whom God has called home.
