The Lord God is one, there is no other (1). We have been chosen as his own (Ps), and, through the Spirit, are able to call God Abba (2). Through baptism all nations are called to share in the life of the Son (3) and acknowledge the triune God.

STEWARDSHIP

Today’s second reading reminds us that we are the adopted sons and daughters —the heirs — of God. We are good stewards of our inheritance when we share our faith and fulfill Our Lord’s command to “go . . . and make disciples of all the nations.”  (See Matthew 28:19)

Abortion, Sex Ed info Via Text Messages!

Parents:  Are your teens getting abortion, sex ed info via text messages? Programs popping up around the nation, offer “anonymous” sexual advice to teens through the texting feature on their cell phones. Children can text any sex question and within 24 hours a stranger will send them back an answer. Paid for partly with tax dollars, the owners promise frank and “nonjudgmental” answers – and secrecy from mom and dad. This is marketed directly to teens through outlets like MySpace. Food Collection Boxes

As our economic problems deepen, food banks in our area are becoming overwhelmed. As Catholics, we understand the calling to share our abundance with the truly needy, for someday we will meet the Lord and ask, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you?” He will reply, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

We have started a food collection box in the church vestibule. Regular donations of foods with a long shelf life will be appreciated. A list of suggested items will be posted above the donation boxes for your reference.
