STEWARDSHIP

The crowd in today’s Gospel demanded a sign from Jesus. May our faithful stewardship be a sign to others that we, like the Ephesians in the second reading, have laid aside our former way of life and acquired a “fresh, spiritual way of thinking” in Christ.

Capsule Sermon

Several year ago, on a hot, humid summer Sunday morning, the creative pastor of a non-air conditioned church gave one of the shortest yet most effective homilies on record.  He stepped up to the lectern, mopped his brow, and said:  “My dear sinful people.  If you think it’s hot now, just wait!”  He then left the lectern and continued with the rest of the service.
