The Lord provides heavenly food for the Israelites to
eat (1,Ps), Jesus proclaims himself to be the very bread of life (3). We lay aside our way of life to be created
anew in his image (2).
STEWARDSHIP
The crowd in today’s
Gospel demanded a sign from Jesus. May our faithful stewardship be a sign to
others that we, like the Ephesians in the second reading, have laid aside our
former way of life and acquired a “fresh, spiritual way of thinking” in Christ.

PLEASE
PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS
For those who are ill, especially:
Beverly Turok, Peter Yazgier, Josephine Sarnoski,
Keith Bloomer, Terri Mahoney,
Irene Corrigan,
that their suffering and trials may become sources of grace for
themselves and others.

Capsule Sermon
Several year ago, on a hot, humid summer Sunday morning, the creative
pastor of a non-air conditioned church gave one of the shortest yet most
effective homilies on record. He stepped
up to the lectern, mopped his brow, and said:
“My dear sinful people. If you
think it’s hot now, just wait!” He then
left the lectern and continued with the rest of the service.
