Abram’s faith is sealed with a covenant initiated by
God, our light and our salvation. The transfiguration of Jesus prefigures the
transformation in glory to which we are called by our sharing in the paschal
mystery – the dying and rising of Jesus.
Stewardship
Peter, James, and John wanted to build a “booth” for Jesus and just
stay on the mountain where His transfiguration took place. But the Son of God,
the Chosen One, knew that He must instead keep moving toward His crucifixion.
We, too, must rise from worship and do what we can to hasten the coming of the
kingdom.

Honor
the Lord with your wealth, with first fruits of all you produce; then will your
bars be filled with grain, with new wine your vats will overflow. Proverbs
3:9-10
This
time each year we come to ask you to renew your Stewardship commitment to Our
Lady of Mercy. You received a letter from Father Dan along with a Guidance in
Giving Chart and a Stewardship envelope. Please use the Stewardship envelope to
tell us what your increase to your weekly offering in 2010 will be. Using the
special Stewardship envelope is very important. If you have already started
your 2010 increase, please use the envelope to tell us, we would like to thank
you.
It
is important that everyone join in the Stewardship commitment to Our Lady of
Mercy. If you did not receive a letter, please pick up a copy after Mass.

What is a Deacon?
A Catholic deacon is a
member of the clergy. In the Catholic Church, “the clergy” consists of three
groups of ordained minister: bishops, deacons and priest. Wile all members of
the Church are called to minister to other by virtue of their baptism, some
Catholics are also ordained to specific forms of ministry to the rest of the
Church. We refer to these ordained Catholic as “clerics” or “clergy”.
The title “deacon”
comes from the Greek word diadonos, which means “servant”. A deacon is
permanently and publicly configured to Christ the Servant, he shares in the
overall pastoral responsibility of the bishop to care for all of the people in
the diocese, and he becomes an integral part of the clerical structure of the
Church, in partnership with priests, serving the needs of the entire diocese.
