Abram’s faith is sealed with a covenant initiated by God, our light and our salvation. The transfiguration of Jesus prefigures the transformation in glory to which we are called by our sharing in the paschal mystery – the dying and rising of Jesus.

Stewardship

Peter, James, and John wanted to build a “booth” for Jesus and just stay on the mountain where His transfiguration took place. But the Son of God, the Chosen One, knew that He must instead keep moving toward His crucifixion. We, too, must rise from worship and do what we can to hasten the coming of the kingdom.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS

For those who are ill, especially:

Linda Kehr, Debbie Mindenberger, Jo Ann Harbager, James Esposito, Peter Beckman and Josephine Sarnoski that their suffering and trials may become sources of grace for themselves and others.

What is a Deacon?

A Catholic deacon is a member of the clergy. In the Catholic Church, “the clergy” consists of three groups of ordained minister: bishops, deacons and priest. Wile all members of the Church are called to minister to other by virtue of their baptism, some Catholics are also ordained to specific forms of ministry to the rest of the Church. We refer to these ordained Catholic as “clerics” or “clergy”.

The title “deacon” comes from the Greek word diadonos, which means “servant”. A deacon is permanently and publicly configured to Christ the Servant, he shares in the overall pastoral responsibility of the bishop to care for all of the people in the diocese, and he becomes an integral part of the clerical structure of the Church, in partnership with priests, serving the needs of the entire diocese.
