21:1-19 or 21:1-14
Jesus appears to seven of his disciples, among them
Peter who proclaims his unfailing love for the Lord. Jesus commissions him to
feed the sheep (3). Later, in face of persecution, Peter and the apostles
proclaim the name of Jesus (1), the Lamb who was slain (2) and who rescues us
from death (Ps).
Stewardship
In
today’s Gospel, Jesus tells Peter again and again, “If you love Me, feed my
sheep.” He says the same to each of us, “If you love Me, use the gifts I have
given you to serve your brothers and sisters.”
See John 21:15

Let us remember in our prayers Rev. Salvatore J.
Rossetti, O.P. May he find the fulfillment of his faith and the reward of his
priestly labors in the presence of the Risen Lord.

Immaculata
High School Fund Raiser for Peter Reid
Peter Reid, a 1993 graduate of Immaculata High School and son of long
term Immaculata teacher, Kathleen Reid, has been battling leukemia for almost
two years.
His recent bone marrow transplant was a success but recovery is very
slow. Peter will not be able to return to his teaching position at St. Joseph
Prep in Philadelphia anytime soon. Meanwhile, the bills keep mounting. His Alma
Mater, Immaculata, will conduct a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, April
28th from 5 - 8 PM at the (240 Mountain Avenue, Somerville). Cost will be $7
pp, $5 for senior citizens and students. Tickets for the dinner may be
purchased at the door. Raffle tickets to support the Reid family may be
purchased by contacting Immaculata Campus Ministry, 908-722-0200 ext. 123. We
ask that you please help this young family in their time of need.
The
Miraculous Medal, which is
officially known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, was
designed by the Blessed Mother, who appeared to St. Catherine LaBouré in 1830
and told her to have a medal struck with the image she showed her. Mary
said those who wore it around their necks would receive great graces.
The front of the
medal shows Mary standing upon a globe, crushing the head of a serpent beneath
her foot. She stands upon the globe, as the Queen of Heaven and Earth. Her feet
crush the serpent to proclaim Satan and all his followers are helpless before
her (Gn 3:15). The year of 1830 on
the Miraculous Medal is the year the Blessed Mother gave the design of the
Miraculous Medal to Saint Catherine Labouré. The reference to Mary conceived
without sin supports the Catholic teachings of the Immaculate Conception of
Mary—not to be confused with the virgin birth of Jesus, and referring to Mary's
sinlessness, “full of grace” and “blessed among women” (Luke 1:28)—that was proclaimed 24 years later in 1854.

Aid to the Church in Central &
Easter Europe and the Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take
place April 28th & 29th.
·
The Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe is working in 28 countries to build the pastoral
capacity of the Church. Together, we are bringing the light of God’s love to
places once covered by a pall of darkness. Our contributions will help build
parishes, supports seminaries, social service programs, youth ministry,
pastoral centers, church construction and spreading of the Gospel in many
distant and unknown places in Central and Eastern Europe.
·
The Catholic Home Missions Appeal support those Catholics in the US where the Catholic
Church struggles just to keep parishes open and to educate children in the
faith. Some dioceses are terribly short of priests, sisters and money needed to
run parishes. Catholic home Missions Appeal also provides funding which helps
send 982 chaplains to offer Mass, sacraments, counseling and the comforts of
faith to American Catholic soldiers and their families around the world.

Two
pilots enter a plane and head for the cockpit. Both are wearing dark glasses.
One is being guided by a seeing eye dog and the other is tapping his way along
the aisle with a cane.
Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin The men
enter the cockpit, the door closes and the engines start up. The passengers
begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this is just a
little practical joke. None is forthcoming.
The plane moves faster and faster down the runway
and the people sitting in the window seats realize they're headed straight for
the water at the edge of the airport. As it begins to look as though the plane
will plough into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin. At that moment,
the plane lifts smoothly into the air. The passengers relax and laugh a little
sheepishly and soon all retreat into their magazines, secure in the knowledge
that the plane is in good hands.
In the cockpit, one of the blind pilots turns to
the other and says, "Ya know Bob, one of these days, they're gonna scream
too late and we're all gonna die."
From the Mouth of Babes
While walking along the sidewalk in front of his
church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar
wilt.
Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates
had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they
had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for
the disposal of the deceased.
The minister's son was chosen to say the
appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he
thought his father always said: "Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the
Sonnn, and into the hole he goooes."
