In bargaining with God, Abraham demonstrates a real persistence in prayer (1). Jesus invites us to persist in prayer as well, to “ask…seek…knock (3). May our prayer open us to God’s will, and so build up his strength within us (Ps). In baptism we have died with Christ, and have been raised to life with him (2).

Stewardship

Jesus is describing God’s immeasurable generosity when He says in today’s Gospel, “Whoever asks, receives; whoever seeks, finds; whoever knocks, is admitted.” But it should also be the description of us as Christian stewards — those seeking to follow Christ by using our gifts in service to others.                                 - See Luke 11:10

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS including:  Lucy Ciancia, Judy Salcewicz,

Tony Gangitano, David King, Haley Weber, Frank Stashak, Josephine Sarnoski, Elizabeth Connelly, Loretta Girard, Mary Pokotello, Blanche Ferarro, Sheila Del Mastro, John & Peter Foxwell, Terese King, John & Christine Dyke, Peter Yazgier and Genevieve Casey.

Let us remember in our prayers Anthony Shurott &

Jozes Skirka whom God has called home.

Open Your Heart and Your Home

Right now there are thousands of New Jersey’s most needy children who do not have homes. We are recruiting families that have a big heart and love for children to become foster or adoptive parents. In Somerset County alone there are over 150 children placed out of their home because of an abusive or neglectful environment. We only have about 40 active foster/adoptive parents in Somerset County to help care for these needy children. The good news is:

There are many ways to help.

Please call at (908) 730-7782 x2009 if you are interested in helping in any way.

Dear Parishioners

Rummage Sale News

I hope you have been rummaging through your homes for things you might like to donate to our sale. The RAS & HNS want this to be a successful event.  Our church is in need of many new items that we would love to purchase, and this is a way for you to help make it happen.

The items on our posters are only a starter of saleable items. We know you have other “stuff and things” that we haven’t thought of.  Every little bit helps.

Thank you to those who volunteered to loan us the drying racks and cash box. We are also in need of garment racks to hang clothes in the boutique area. The supplies we ask for will be returned after the sale. We promise not to sell them.  Just a reminder, we will need parishioners to help set up and price EVERYTHING on September 6 and 7 beginning at 9:30. You may call me at 732-469-2874 with any questions. Thank you from the RAS & HNS Rummage Sale Committee.  Rita Stryshak

Everything I Need to Know About life, I Learned From Noah's Ark

  1. Don't miss the boat.
  2. Remember that we are all in the same boat.
  3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
  4. Stay fit When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
  5. Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
  6. Build your future on high ground.
  7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
  8. Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
  9. When you're stressed, float a while.
  10. Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
  11. No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting
