We are to love the Lord with our whole heart and our neighbor as ourself. By thus fulfilling these two great commandments, we hope to become models of faith and imitators of the Lord who gave himself totally for our sakes.

Stewardship

We fulfill the commandment to love our neighbor when we exercise good stewardship— joyfully sharing our gifts of life, abilities, and resources to meet our neighbor’s need.

Let us remember in our prayers Deacon Nicholas Thornton

whom God has called home.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF OUR PARISHIONERS

OUR LADY OF MERCY NEWS

www.olmsbb.org

From the Desk of the Pastor

Next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of Our Lady of Mercy her in South Bound Brook. To mark the occasion, I would like to put a committee together to plan for this anniversary.

Accordingly, I invite all interested parishioners to be part of the committee. Kindly contact the rectory if you would like to serve.

All Saints Day

All Saints Day falls on November 1st this year. November 1st is a Saturday. “The National Conference of Catholic Bishops approved two motions which affect the observance of holy days of obligation in the dioceses of the United States. They decided that whenever January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated”. This means coming to Mass on Saturday at 5:30 or Sunday at 8AM, 10AM or Noon, you will have fulfilled your obligation to attend Mass for the Holy Day also.

All Souls Day

Second Collection

All Souls Day falls on November 2nd . All Souls Day is not a Holy Day of Obligation, but it falls on a Sunday this year.

In your envelope packets you will find an envelope for All Souls Day. On the back of envelope are spaces for you to write in the names of your deceased loved ones. Please place these envelopes in the second collection. Father Dan will then pray over them at the altar. You are also welcome to drop them off in the rectory mail slot before November 2nd to be brought over to the church on All Souls Sunday.

 Christmas Candy

Gertrude Hawk Christmas candy brochures are available at all exits. Orders may be put in the collection basket or in the rectory mail slot.  All orders must be returned by Sunday, November 16 by 1:00 p.m.  Make checks out to DIANE MOSKO (not Our Lady of Mercy or Gertrude Hawk).  Remember – no order is too small – every order counts!  Any questions, call Diane at 908-369-3398.  Thank you for your continued support.  Olgiztion
