Stewardship

Even though the Lord led them out of Egypt and provided for their every need, the people in today’s first reading were complaining and ungrateful. Does my stewardship of God’s gifts show that I know from Whom they came and am grateful?

For those who are ill, especially:  Josephine Sarnoski, Blanche Ferraro, Al & Ruth Schraeder, Elizabeth Connelly, Genevieve Casey, Christine Dyke, Peter Yazgier, Alexandra Collard and Maura O’Farrell.

September 22nd is “Family Day”

All families are encouraged to celebrate Family Day by eating dinner together on Sept. 22nd and everyday. More importantly, talk with your children. During dinner, turn off the TV and let the answering machine record your calls. Involve the entire family in planning and cooking the meal if possible. Start a family tradition of beginning family meals with a prayer or by lighting candles. Remember to have dessert or consider playing a board game after dinner to keep the conversations going.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University has consistently shown that the more often children eat with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use illegal drugs. Visit www.CASAFamilyday.org for more information.
